My name is Kelly Lamb, and I live in Easton. I’m a stay-at-home mom. I actually was a scientist before that, but now I’m home with my girls. I really love being with them, but it is nice to have some things for myself, and that’s one of the things that I love about coming to this gym, is it’s a great group of girls, and so I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends while I’m getting a workout.
I actually was going through a really hard time. We adopted some kids from foster care, and there was a lot of trauma, and I was struggling with it. I remember one day I was in my bedroom and the thought occurred to me that I just didn’t feel like myself anymore. I felt like I lost my fight, and I immediately grabbed my computer, and I searched women’s kickboxing. This was the closest place. I figured if I came here, I could exploit the mind/body connection, and if I could get just my body to fight, maybe my head would catch on and get on the same page.
So, I came to my first class really hoping to heal, and did not realize that this was a real MMA gym, so when I first walked in the door, I almost walked right back out, because I immediately was like, “Wow. This is not iHeart kickboxing.” Luckily Jimmy came over and introduced himself right away. He was so welcoming, and all the girls were so nice that I stayed for that first class, and I fell in love with it, and I just kept coming back.
I would say that it doesn’t really matter what drives you to come to the gym. Whether you’re looking for a good workout. You’re looking for a great group of friends. You’re looking to be a fighter, or you’re coming for a feeling, like I did. No matter what drives you through that door, you benefit from it all. I can guarantee you … When I first opened that door, there was a little moment of panic, but now I look back, and I think staying was one of the best decisions of my life. I guarantee you would feel the same way.
