In this day in age, its becoming increasingly difficult to find a good martial arts facility. Combining a general loss of interest in traditional martial arts with the MMA boom, many schools are transitioning to meet consumer demand’s interest in Jiu Jitsu and MMA. People need to be very careful when putting their trust, money, and safety into a martial arts facility and it’s head instructor. I have been involved martial arts for over 20 years, and cant be more proud of my affiliation and membership with Lauzon MMA. Personally, I am very picky when is comes to choosing a new school. I have a standard set of requirements that I have laid out when choosing a new martial arts home that I have built over years of interaction within the martial arts community. Lauzon MMA has exceeded all of them.

I am wary of a school owner/head instructor who is not aware of his martial arts lineage or extended family. Its shows a lack of respect for his predecessors, hits art, his students, and really goes against a core value martial arts. The head instructor is the foundation, the base necessary to build a good school. The head instructor of Lauzon MMA, Joe Pomfret, is as good of a foundation as you will find! His knowledge and skill are top level. Beyond that, Mr. Pomfret’s example through his attitude and passion for teaching exemplifies ALL of the great benefits martial arts is to give to one person of any age or skill level. Mr. Pomfret has created an environment of respect, honor, teamwork, and dedication for his students of which I am thankful for. The benefits of Mr. Pomfret’s tutilage shows through the attitudes and success of his students in all forms of combative arts competitions. His most notable students of course being Joe and Dan Lauzon.

I have been training at Lauzon MMA since 4/07. The facilities are top notch. There are bags to punish of every type, weights, wall to wall cushioned mats, 2 floors, a boxing ring, a professional cage, and all of the training partners you can handle. And all of it….clean. What more can you ask for!? Most times its hard being the new guy in a school. Lauzon MMA really made the transition easy for me. Id say my favorite thing about Lauzon MMA is that there really are NO fevered egos there. I joined knowing VERY little about Jiu Jitsu. There was never one person who seemed put off by teaching me that cool way they just tapped me out, or how to defend it. Ask Dan or Joe Lauzon a question about something, even after class, and they will never hesitate to show you the way. The caliber of fighters who train there are amazing. The mutual respect everyone has for eachother is incredible. This school really has no room for “tough guys”.

Lauzon MMA also offers an impressive array of instruction. There is Gi Jiu Jitsu, no Gi Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, and traditional martial arts. The old expression “Jack of all trades, and master of none” doesnt apply to Lauzon MMA. Besides themselves, Joe Pomfret and Joe Lauzon recognize the need of different perspectives and provide specialists for other areas of instruction such as Steve Maze for boxing. Joe Lauzon’s ability to break even the most complex moves and transitions in Jiuj Jitsu down, then instruct them in a way that makes it easy for anyone to grasp is phenominal. I would be willing to wager that my growth at Lauzon MMA over the past year would far surpass that if I had gone to another school. Not to mention that Ive lost 25lbs since joining!

So I guess to summarize, Lauzon MMA is the place to be and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Anyone of any skillset would be comfortable learning here. Whether you are fresh in off the street or a seasoned fighter, there will always be someone to challenge you and drive you to be better. I defy someone to find many other places that would help you reach your potential faster. I dont think I have ever seen kids have more fun during class in my life! Lauzon MMA is multi-gender friendly. My girlfriend wants to sign up! I would gladly reccommend to ANYONE looking to improve their health, get in shape, become a better fighter, compete on any level, or just want to learn what they see on tv that there really is no better place to go than Lauzon MMA.

Clean, affordable, professional, and encouraging atmosphere.

My name is Jeff Jones. When asked if I’d be interested in offering a few words about my experience at Lauzon MMA, I thought my story was unique enough to perhaps encourage others who had reservations about training at a gym like this.

I am an IT professional. I have a wife and two kids and serve as a deacon at my church. I have trained at Lauzon MMA along with my 15-year old son and 13 year-old daughter for about a year. Though we had trained in Kempo Karate for a number of years, we brought no boxing, wrestling, or grappling experience with us. We had been avid MMA fans for a few years and after the kids achieved their junior black belts in Kempo, they expressed an interest in grappling. I thought it best to reward their achievements with a sincere look at schools in the area.

Being fans of the UFC, we followed a couple local guys with particular interest and became fans of Joe Lauzon. Being so young and having grown up only one town away, I guessed that Joe received the bulk of his training somewhere nearby. Ten minutes of research turned up Joe’s gym. We stopped in to meet the trainers and observe a session one night and signed up the following week.

What I have found in this past year is, not only is this a gym that has turned out premier fighters who fight on Pay-Per-View for the most prestigious organizations in the world, and dozens of competitive fighters on the local circuit, this gym also offers a clean, affordable, professional, and encouraging atmosphere for those whose competitive years may have gone by, or are still a few years away. Lauzon MMA is a great place for the whole family to train.

Our training has been an incredibly fun way to keep fit. It is also well established what martial arts training does for a kid. My kids have never been more confident and in better shape. At the same time, Lauzon MMA has the staff, equipment, and training partners to make a champion out of you. Those who do train to be the best are quick to offer direction and encouragement in an atmosphere clearly established by the trainers and principles of Lauzon MMA. Whether you’re looking to build a career as a fighter, or just have some fun in a healthy activity with your kids, I highly recommend stopping in for a training session to check it out. Incredible Training

I am 45yrs old training with guys half my age. At Lauzon MMA nobody takes advantage of my age, size or experience in MMA. The training I have recieved in the last 8 months is incredible. Joe, Chris, Dan and Joe Pomfret are truely professional when it comes to the instruction of MMA.
